While I don’t think that everyone is meant to be a “chief,” I do believe that every “Indian” has a special and unique talent. We each have something great to contribute to the world, and that is part of the reason why we are here. The problem is that many of us aren’t bold enough to not just embrace our purpose, but to f**k up.
I’m convinced that mediocrity is rooted in the fear of failure. People do what is easy, expected and familiar to stay afloat. But to me, that’s anything but safe.
I get it. Nobody wants to fail. We all want to make the best decisions for our lives. But there is something wonderful that comes through failure. If you go through life making terrible mistakes, then failing isn’t the best option for you. You should never be known as someone who fails, but being known as someone who is bold enough and willing to fail is a different story.
Failure is more than taking action and being unsuccessful. What you choose not to do is just as bad. Playing it safe is failing. If you continue to stay in that career that makes you unhappy, you’ve failed. If you remain in an emotionally, physically and/or financially draining relationship because it’s familiar, you’ve failed. If you live your live according to what others feel, you’ve failed.
Sometimes you just have to be bold enough to f**k up. So do yourself a favor. Release the ties that are stopping you from being who you are and doing what you wish. After all, life isn’t a test run. So live it on your terms and you may change more than just your world.
